What you need before installing a mill

A practical checklist for the quote, site preparation, and scanner-to-design-to-milling workflow.

Confirm the equipment list

Obtain the exact model, supplied accessories, materials, holders, tooling, and licensed CAD/CAM configuration. Ask what is included and what must be purchased separately.

Get the site requirements

Request the manufacturer installation sheet for the quoted model. Have the installer confirm footprint, access, electrical supply, compressed air, extraction, coolant, network, and environmental requirements where applicable. No universal measurements apply to every mill.

Connect scan, design, and milling

Identify the scanner and export route, receiving design software, compatible libraries, CAM software, machine configuration, and material workflow. Verify the handoffs with the intended laboratory or operator.

Plan finishing and support

Determine whether the chosen materials require additional processing or finishing equipment. Confirm installation responsibility, training dates, maintenance tasks, warranty terms, and the service contact before delivery.
